Espresso Says AI Agents Could Raise Demand for Faster Onchain Payments
Espresso argues that agent-driven purchases and payments could increase transaction activity and require infrastructure that settles payments rapidly.

Espresso argues that AI agents buying services and sending payments for people and businesses could sharply increase onchain activity, requiring infrastructure that can process more transactions and finalize payments quickly.
That view concerns possible future demand, not a result from Espresso’s benchmark. The previously covered test measured 181 MB/s of data throughput and a median settlement time of 778 milliseconds at peak capacity across 100 validators. It emulated delays between global locations and was not a live-mainnet throughput measurement.
The benchmark results do not establish whether Espresso can handle a projected increase in AI-agent payments. The benchmark details are covered in TokenPost’s earlier report on Espresso’s test.
