Paradigm plans to release Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) code generation for its Solar Solidity compiler during the week of Oct. 26, with its technology chief claiming it is more than 100 times faster than solc.

Paradigm partner and Chief Technology Officer Georgios Konstantopoulos said the feature can produce more gas-efficient bytecode without developers writing assembly code. The capability remains a planned release.

Code generation turns Solidity smart contracts into bytecode that can run in the EVM on Ethereum and compatible networks. The speed claim concerns generating that code, while the gas-efficiency claim concerns the resulting bytecode.

Solar is separate from Paradigm’s evm2, an EVM implementation that completed an audit. evm2 includes a built-in just-in-time compiler and is intended for projects including Foundry, Reth and Tempo. Those projects are part of Paradigm’s technology stack.

The next step for Solar is the code-generation release planned for the week of Oct. 26.
