OpenAI Releases GPT-6.1 Terra With API Prices 50% Below Two Models
The model is available in ChatGPT Work and Codex. At medium reasoning effort, it scored 15 percentage points above GPT-5.6 Terra at about one-third the cost.

OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra on Oct. 26, bringing a lower-priced model for visual reasoning and computer use to ChatGPT Work and Codex users and developers through its API.
The model is available to Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex. Developers can access it through the API using the model ID gpt-6.1-terra.
Standard API rates are $1 per million input tokens, $0.05 per million cached input tokens and $5 per million output tokens. Those prices are 50% below the standard rates for GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol.
At medium reasoning effort, Terra scored 15 percentage points above GPT-5.6 Terra on Agents’ Last Exam at about one-third the cost.
Terra is designed for high-volume professional work involving images and computer controls, including interpreting drawings and working across applications. GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Astra remain stronger choices for the most complex coding tasks.
