Foxconn Worker Alleges Apple Relaxed iPhone Duo Quality Standards

The employee linked the alleged change to production pressure. Apple has acknowledged an inner-display issue in a small number of units and advised affected owners to contact AppleCare for replacement help.

An anonymous employee at Foxconn’s Zhengzhou plant alleged Apple relaxed some quality-control standards during iPhone Duo production to keep supply moving, offering a production-side claim alongside reports of inner-display failures.

Possible hinge-related mechanisms include a center support bar that may not move fully clear of the display’s folding area as the phone closes, or a curved rail that could interfere with the screen. Apple has not publicly settled on a cause.

The allegation follows earlier reports of cracks near the hinge. Apple has acknowledged an inner-display issue affecting a small number of iPhone Duo units and advised owners experiencing display trouble to contact AppleCare for replacement help, as detailed in its earlier acknowledgment.

Apple’s public response has not addressed the employee’s claim about quality standards or identified what caused the failures.
