Apple announced a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip starting at $1,999 in the United States, adding confirmed product details ahead of an event tied to touchscreen rumors.

The laptop has a Liquid Retina XDR display; Apple’s product details do not identify it as OLED or touchscreen. U.S. preorders open Oct. 28, with availability beginning Nov. 6.

The rumored MacBook Pro models are expected in 14- and 16-inch sizes with OLED touchscreens. Apple has not confirmed the rumored models or identified their chips, prices or release timing.

Apple has not said how touch would work on the rumored MacBook displays. Its 2016 Touch Bar put a Multi-Touch strip above the keyboard in place of the function-key row. At the “Back to the Mac” event in 2010, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs said, “Touch surfaces don’t want to be vertical.”

Apple’s “Pro and tell” media event is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET Wednesday, Oct. 28 (17:00 UTC) in Los Angeles. A previous event preview covered expectations for the event. U.S. preorders for the M6 MacBook Pro also start Oct. 28.
