Singapore Police Report $2.7 Million in Losses From Tampered Ledger Wallets
At least two cases had been reported since Sept. 10, weeks before the wider incident became public on Oct. 9.

The Singapore Police Force reported at least two cases involving tampered Ledger hardware wallets since Sept. 10, with combined losses of about $2.7 million, weeks before the wider incident became public Oct. 9.
A preliminary police probe identified malicious components inside Ledger wallets bought at some retail stores in Singapore. The wider issue drew public attention Oct. 9, after loss reports involved CryptoBilis, an authorized reseller of Ledger products in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.
Police said they were in contact with Ledger and that the company was reviewing the cases as investigations continued.
Ledger asked retailers to pause sales on Oct. 13 in Singapore and six other markets: Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Singapore was included in the company’s regional sales suspension.
