XRP Ledger Cleanup Amendment Reaches 33 Validator Votes

The Sunday tally put the amendment four votes above the 29-vote minimum, while Nov. 4 remains only the earliest possible activation point.

Sunday’s count gave the XRP Ledger’s fixCleanup3_4_0 cleanup measure support from 33 of the network’s 35 trusted validators, four votes above the required floor and enough to keep a Wednesday activation possible if support holds.

At 11:16 a.m. ET (16:16 UTC) Sunday, Nov. 1, 33 validators backed the amendment. The earliest projected activation is Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 9:46 a.m. ET (14:46 UTC), provided support remains above the threshold.

The approval date is conditional. An amendment must maintain support from more than 80% of trusted validators for two weeks. Validator votes are checked at flag ledgers, which are typically about 15 minutes apart; if support reaches 80% or less, the two-week period starts over. The Nov. 4 estimate marks the first possible activation point, not a confirmed date.

The current approval period began Oct. 21, when the amendment regained the 29-vote minimum after falling below it. An earlier account of the revised activation timeline covered the reset.

The amendment groups rule changes affecting vault accounting, lending checks, automated market maker operations, token permissions, nonfungible tokens, escrow, permissioned trading and transaction signing. Its code was included in xrpld version 3.4.0, released Sept. 17. The release made the code available; validator approval determines whether those changes take effect on the network.

One change concerns delegated PaymentBurn authority. In certain circumstances, a delegate with that permission could create fungible tokens while the amendment was inactive. The package also adjusts rules for vault rounding, escrow reserves and transaction signing.

The cleanup vote does not activate the separate lending system. In Sunday’s count, LendingProtocol and LendingProtocolV1_1 each had 19 votes, while SingleAssetVault had 21. Each needed 29 votes to begin its own approval period.
