Akash Stakers Approve AKT’s Planned Migration From Cosmos to Solana

The token launch remains conditional on two audits, while a separate vote will set the compute marketplace’s cutover timing.

Akash Network stakers approved moving Akash Network’s native token (AKT) from its Cosmos chain to Solana, advancing a migration plan whose Solana token launch still depends on two audits.

The approval moves the token migration forward but leaves the timing of the decentralized compute marketplace’s move undecided. AKT would be issued as an SPL token after audits of the token and migration portal. The proposed one-way portal would allow transfers at a 1:1 ratio and remain available for two years. Stakers would have to unlock their AKT first; the unbonding period is 21 days. Those provisions appeared in the migration proposal previously put to a vote.

The marketplace move needs another governance step. A later vote will establish the cutover after the audits and a migration rehearsal, while staking rewards are scheduled to stop when the switch happens. Akash’s stated case for Solana included operating costs at heavy workloads and the cluster of decentralized physical infrastructure projects on the network.
