Mercado Bitcoin Plans Nov. 9 Website Restart After Security Incident
The exchange will open account viewing first; transfers, withdrawals and trading will resume after final security reviews. The current frozen total exceeds $15 million.

Mercado Bitcoin, a Brazilian crypto exchange, plans to restore website access Nov. 9, beginning with account viewing as it prepares a staged return of transaction services after a security incident.
Customers will first be able to check balances, bills, assets and investment status. Transfers, withdrawals and trading will return in sequence after each service module passes a final security review.
The exchange did not set dates for those later services. The initial reopening phase is limited to viewing account information.
Mercado Bitcoin reiterated that customers would not lose assets and said it would use its own funds to compensate for incident-related assets.
The exchange put the current total of incident-related assets frozen at more than $15 million, following work with Tether, Circle, Paxos, BRL1, Chainalysis and crypto community specialists. It had previously cited $12.9 million, making the latest figure a current total rather than an additional amount.
The reopening plan follows the exchange’s suspension of deposits and withdrawals after the security incident.
