Meta has decided internally to stop using fruit names as codenames for its AI models, people familiar with the decision say. The shift reflects the company’s view that fruit labels do not fit the positioning of its AI business.

Wonder Full was internally known as Watermelon. Meta has described Wonder Full as its first model to reach frontier-level performance and posted watermelon photos before its release.

Meta also used Avocado for a language model and Mango for an image model. Across the examples, fruit names served as internal labels for different AI models, including Wonder Full and models for language and images.

The naming-policy shift follows Meta’s Oct. 12 launch of Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full. The latter was available to Muse Code subscribers after its Oct. 12 launch.
