Metaplanet Repurchases 96.45 Million Shares for ¥25.27 Billion in October
The Oct. 13 authorization allows purchases of up to 200 million shares for ¥60 billion through Oct. 13, 2027.

Metaplanet Inc., a Japanese Bitcoin (BTC) treasury company, repurchased 96.45 million shares for ¥25.27 billion from Oct. 14 through Oct. 31. An Oct. 14 tranche also affected the voting-rights calculation for a major shareholder.
Metaplanet repurchased exactly 96,447,400 common shares for ¥25,269,031,500. It held 96,474,427 shares in treasury as of Oct. 31. The completed purchases followed the buyback plan announced for Oct. 14.
A board resolution approved Oct. 13 authorized the company to repurchase up to 200 million shares, equal to 14.7% of issued common shares excluding treasury shares as of Sept. 30. The program caps spending at ¥60 billion and runs through Oct. 13, 2027. The 200 million-share figure is the authorization limit; the completed October total was 96,447,400 shares.
In its voting-rights calculation as of Oct. 16, Metaplanet deducted the votes represented by 73,981,400 shares it had repurchased on Oct. 14 through ToSTNeT-3. The calculation listed Capital Research and Management Company’s voting-rights share at 11.11%. Metaplanet disclosed that snapshot Oct. 23 and said it had not independently confirmed the reported holdings. The 11.11% voting-rights snapshot crossed Metaplanet’s 10% major-shareholder threshold.
The buyback authorization remains in effect through Oct. 13, 2027.
