Near Protocol (NEAR) has lost the technical structure that supported its recovery over the past two months, raising concerns that the cryptocurrency could face additional downside. After weeks of consolidating above major moving averages, NEAR has broken below critical support, signaling a shift in momentum from buyers to sellers.

The token is currently trading near $1.63 after falling below its 20-day, 100-day, and 200-day exponential moving averages (EMAs). These indicators had formed a strong support zone between $1.81 and $1.88 throughout July. Instead of rebounding from this area, NEAR sliced through all three levels in one decisive move, suggesting bulls have lost control of the short-term trend.

The breakdown carries added significance because it follows a prolonged consolidation after NEAR’s powerful rally in late May and early June, when the token briefly climbed above $3.00. Since then, momentum has gradually weakened, with each rebound producing lower highs. The latest decline appears to confirm that bearish pressure is now dominating the market.

Adding to the negative outlook, the 200-day EMA, often viewed as the dividing line between long-term bullish and bearish trends, has failed to hold as support. Unless NEAR can quickly reclaim the $1.82-$1.88 range, any short-term rebound is likely to be treated as a selling opportunity rather than the start of a new uptrend.

Momentum indicators also reinforce the bearish case. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has dropped to around 33, approaching oversold territory but remaining above levels that typically trigger stronger recovery rallies. This suggests selling pressure is increasing, while bears have not yet shown signs of exhaustion.

Trading volume has remained relatively subdued during the decline, indicating that the move has been driven more by fading buying interest than panic selling. If bearish momentum continues, the next key support lies between $1.50 and $1.55. A break below that zone could expose $1.30, erasing much of NEAR’s summer recovery. For bulls to regain confidence, the token must reclaim and hold above the $1.82-$1.88 moving-average cluster. Until then, the technical outlook remains firmly in favor of the bears.
