Federal Reserve official Kashkari expects the central bank to raise interest rates once more in 2026 and again in 2027.

Kashkari also said the Federal Reserve’s balance sheet is most effective when interest rates are close to zero. He described the balance sheet’s size as a complex issue and said revisiting the central bank’s strategy would be reasonable.

Kashkari added that he is optimistic about artificial intelligence while weighing the risks tied to the technology.
