Bitcoin (BTC) fell below $82,000 on Oct. 20, crossing an earlier support marker while a conditional $84,000 month-end scenario still depended on daily closes against recalculated moving averages.

BTC was $81,426.99 at 5 a.m. ET (09:00 UTC), down 1.59% over 24 hours. It traded between $81,107.23 and $83,009.03 during that period, leaving $84,000 above the range’s high.

The price was also below $82,281, a level identified as support after Bitcoin rebounded from a $79,694 low on Oct. 15. That rebound carried BTC near $82,347.

A previously outlined $84,000 October scenario depends on Bitcoin holding above its 50-day exponential moving average (EMA) on a daily closing basis and recovering above its 20-day EMA. An Oct. 15 chart put those EMAs at $80,340 and $82,905, respectively. Both readings change as new price data arrives.

Tuesday’s spot quote was below the dated $82,905 reading. The scenario’s next test is where Bitcoin closes relative to the recalculated EMAs before October ends.
