Polkadot Gains 6.81% to $1.19 as Its Supply Cap Stands at 2.1 Billion DOT
DOT was above its Oct. 20 reading of $1.141. Annual issuance fell to 55 million DOT in March, when a 2.1 billion DOT supply cap was set.

Polkadot (DOT) traded at $1.19, up 6.81% over 24 hours, as of 4:22 a.m. ET (08:22 UTC) Friday, Oct. 23. The price was above a Tuesday, Oct. 20 reading of $1.141 at 9:14 a.m. ET (13:14 UTC), when DOT had gained 1.55% over 24 hours, in an earlier price update.
DOT is used for staking, governance and coretime purchases on the Polkadot network. A March 14, 2026 governance change lowered DOT’s annual issuance to 55 million from 120 million and established a 2.1 billion DOT supply cap. The issuance reduction limits the flow of newly issued tokens, but those supply terms alone do not establish whether demand has changed. The issuance reduction also followed an earlier supply overhaul.
