Sendi Young, Ripple's managing director for Europe, said XRP (XRP) is used in Ripple's cross-border payments and the company hopes to integrate it more closely with its solutions and XRP Ledger functionality.

“We do leverage XRP, which is a specific digital asset that is native on the XRP Ledger ... we’re leveraging this digital asset for the cross-border payments,” Young said. She also said Ripple hopes to do more with XRP and connect it more closely with its solutions and the ledger's functionality.

Young described the XRP Ledger as a public, decentralized blockchain separate from Ripple. XRP is the ledger's native digital asset.

Ripple President Monica Long previously discussed a proposal to move customer transaction volume onto the XRP Ledger in 2027, covered in an earlier proposal to move payment volume onto the ledger. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has said XRP may not suit every use case, and that the company may use fiat currency or Ripple USD (RLUSD) for some customer transactions, as described in his comments on XRP's limits in some use cases.
