Polymarket Gives 66% Odds Trump Will Adopt New AI Name or Direct Federal Use by Dec. 31
The probability rose 17% in a week after Trump proposed “Super Intelligence” as an alternative term for artificial intelligence.
Polymarket gives a 66% probability that President Donald Trump will adopt a new official name for artificial intelligence (AI) or direct the federal government to use one by the end of the year, making the contract a measure of expected government action rather than a completed renaming.
The probability rose 17% over the past week. The contract requires the action to occur by 11:59 p.m. ET on Dec. 31 (04:59 UTC on Jan. 1), through an executive order, presidential proclamation or presidential memorandum.
Statements in speeches, interviews, news conferences and social media posts do not qualify under the settlement rules. Trump has not met the contract’s requirement merely by discussing a different name for the technology.
During a speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Trump reiterated his opposition to regulating AI. He said “artificial intelligence” understates the technology’s value, proposed “Super Intelligence” as an alternative and said he hoped countries around the world would adopt it.
