Kalshi would accept a minimum age of 21 for prediction-market customers as it works with regulators on user protections, CEO Tarek Mansour said, a change that could affect younger users’ access to the exchange.

Kalshi plans to cap monthly deposits at $2,500 for users under 21 and place them in dedicated accounts intended to discourage risky activity. Mansour also said the exchange needs to work with regulators on protections and address existing regulatory gaps.

Kalshi is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Mansour said the exchange does not act as the other side of customer trades; when a customer loses money, it goes to other traders.

The age threshold has also featured in a separate NFL push for a 21-year minimum age for prediction-market users. The NFL has sought that threshold while Kalshi has allowed customers as young as 18.
