Former Ripple adviser Antony Welfare said the XRP Ledger (XRPL) can support banks, but institutional adoption of the network alone would not guarantee a price rally for XRP.

Welfare made the comments in an Oct. 15 podcast episode.

A separate proposal would connect Ripple’s payments business to XRPL lending under development, with XRP potentially used in pools to fund payment customers.

Ripple has separately outlined plans to move customer payment flows onto XRPL in 2027 and expand a pilot using the network’s decentralized exchange, as detailed in earlier coverage of the plan.
