User Says Polymarket Requires ID and Release for Some Incident Refunds

The claim challenges the terms against Polymarket’s promise to fully repay affected traders after a third-party provider breach.

X user daN’SKi (@TheNotoriousSKi) alleged Oct. 30 that Polymarket is requiring some users affected by its security incident to disclose identifying information and sign a binding settlement and release agreement before receiving funds. The post said the condition conflicts with Polymarket’s earlier promise of full reimbursement and questioned whether the requirement is legal.

Polymarket’s Discord message set a repayment threshold: users with losses under $10,000 were told their funds would be restored by Oct. 30, while users with larger losses would need to sign a release to receive reimbursement. The images shared by daN’SKi included a document labeled as a settlement and release agreement.

On Oct. 29, Polymarket said a breach at a third-party provider serving its international Polymarket.com platform had been identified and fixed, and that the incident was referred to law enforcement. The platform promised full reimbursement to affected traders and later said trading had resumed. Polymarket’s U.S. platform was not affected.
