Justin Sun Says Quantum Computing Could Threaten Crypto Within Two Years
Sun tied the risk to quantum computers breaking blockchain signatures. TRON announced post-quantum cryptography availability on its testnet in October.

TRON founder Justin Sun said Friday, Nov. 6, that quantum advances could threaten cryptocurrency security within one to two years, putting a timeline on a risk tied to blockchain digital signatures.
Current quantum computers cannot break cryptographic networks. Sun said sufficiently powerful, fault-tolerant machines could use Shor’s algorithm to break digital signatures. Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum rely on signatures such as the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA).
TRON announced in October that post-quantum cryptography was available on its testnet. The technology is designed to resist attacks from powerful quantum computers. TokenPost previously covered TRON’s testnet announcement.
Sun has also said AI and quantum risks were not fully reflected in Bitcoin’s outlook, a concern he raised in earlier comments on Bitcoin’s risk outlook.
