The ongoing war in the Middle East is sending shockwaves through the global business and sports calendar, with major crypto conferences and Formula 1 races among the latest high-profile casualties.

TOKEN2049 Dubai, one of the world's premier cryptocurrency conferences attracting over 15,000 attendees annually, has been pushed back to April 21–22, 2027. Organizers cited serious concerns around participant safety, international travel disruptions, and logistical challenges stemming from the regional conflict. All existing tickets and registrations will carry over to the rescheduled event.

TON Gateway Dubai, a blockchain gathering centered on The Open Network ecosystem, faced an even harsher fate — a full outright cancellation. The event, which was set to unite TON developers and ecosystem partners in early May, was scrapped due to heightened security risks, with affected ticketholders receiving complete refunds.

The disruptions have extended well into motorsport. Both the Bahrain Grand Prix on April 12 and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on April 19 are expected to be canceled, with Formula 1 and the FIA preparing to make formal announcements. Threats including nearby military strikes, compromised airspace, and travel complications for racing teams have made hosting the events untenable. Later races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi remain on the schedule for now, though organizers are watching the situation carefully.

These cancellations carry significant financial weight for the crypto industry, which has become one of F1's most prominent sponsorship sectors. Companies like OKX, Crypto.com, Bybit, Kraken, Coinbase, and Binance have collectively invested hundreds of millions in motorsport partnerships to access a global audience exceeding one billion viewers annually.

Beyond crypto and racing, broader business events including Middle East Energy Dubai and Affiliate World Global have also been postponed, reflecting how deeply the conflict is disrupting the region's commercial landscape — particularly in Dubai, a recognized global hub for digital assets and Web3 innovation.
