The network will place market-implied probabilities alongside polls, results and race analysis as prediction markets gain visibility despite limited participation across many congressional contracts.

CBS News plans to display Kalshi prediction-market data alongside polling, election results and race analysis during its 2026 U.S. midterm coverage, giving market-implied probabilities a place in the network’s election-night programming.

The network’s “Election 2026: The Nerd Show” is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. ET (22:00 UTC) Nov. 3. CBS’ main election coverage is set to start at 7 p.m. ET (00:00 UTC Nov. 4).

Prediction markets use binary contracts tied to future outcomes. A contract trading at 40 cents is generally interpreted as implying a 40% chance of that outcome, while a winning contract settles at $1.

The increased visibility comes as prediction markets gain attention despite limited participation across many congressional contracts. An analysis covering 7,466 markets on Kalshi, Polymarket and Polymarket US found that 80% of Polymarket congressional markets had fewer than 100 participating wallets.

Trading was also concentrated among a small group of participants. The top 1% of Polymarket Global wallets accounted for 68% of trading volume in 2026 congressional markets, based on data through Aug. 10.

The figures show that market visibility and overall volume do not necessarily translate into broad participation in individual election contracts. They also cover different periods: the wallet analysis extends through Aug. 10, while the broader volume figures run through July.

Combined monthly global volume on Kalshi and Polymarket increased from $25.66 billion in May 2026 to $52.99 billion in July. The totals count contracts at their $1 notional payout value rather than traders’ purchase prices or platform revenue. Sports represented the largest trading category on both platforms during the period.

The CBS integration follows Kalshi’s expansion of election-market tools, including low-volume labels and live trade feeds. TokenPost previously covered Kalshi’s election-market participation features.
